TODA is an immersive multimedia content capture and distribution platform from Like Minded Media Ventures
The technology was developed in-house by LMLabs and has a wide variety of use cases ranging from workplace video conferencing all the way to education, healthcare and live events.
As part of a small team designing the control panel interface for a wide range of broadcast types and intricate levels of customisable variables and controls.
Working out how different users will interact with the product from a development prototype, which was in constant iteration as new features were being developed.
To gain a deep understanding of how the software was intended to be used, we conducted all of our meetings directly in TODA.
A first look at how we envisaged the grid of components working.
The controls available to different users are determined by a multitude of factors and permissions are granted by an administrator.
In addition to this, a user with many permissions might be working on something specific during a broadcast.
With all of this in mind, we endeavoured to create a flexible and responsive grid layout in which users could select from the components available to them and decide on their placement depending on their preferences.
The TODA brand colours were used to drive the colour palette of the control panel.
The building blocks system allows the user to control their own interface depending on what their task is.
This solution also provides the necessary flexibility to modify access individual’s controls without affecting the layout of the interface as well as being infinitely scalable.
Alongside the lead designer and development team, I grew the product from prototype to something flexible, scalable and with an ever expanding component library.
